Nancy Holt: Missoula Ranch Locators Poster

$250.00

This rare poster was made for Nancy Holt’s solo exhibition at the art gallery at the University of Montana, Missoula in 1972.

The image shows Missoula Ranch Locators: Vision Encompassed, her first outdoor sculpture. In 1971 Nancy Holt began making her very first sculptures, which she described as sculptural “seeing devices.” The Locators, as she named them, were shaped by Holt’s interest in the circularity of photography, and are simple constructions made from industrial pipes welded into a T-shape, to be looked through with one eye. They direct attention to the time-bound processes of vision.
